Celebrating Indonesia

Written by The Bug

It’s that time of year where the Indonesian Students Association (PPIA) of UNSW launches their annual Indonesian Night Market 2015 “Alun Alun”. This exciting event aims to introduce Indonesian culture to Sydney’s wider community as well as providing a set for those nostalgic and far away from home.

Inundated with traditional Indonesian foods such as satay chicken, martabak and gado-gado (only to name a few!), the night markets is the event to attend for all the food-lovers out there. Indonesian cuisine is one of the most vibrant and colourful cuisines in the world, full of intense flavours, delivering exotic blends of spices and tastes.

Apart from the food stalls, PPIA will be delivering an array of live performances including musical drama, band performances, Indonesian dances, gamelan show, poetry reading as well as other cool Indonesian activities.  There will also be a parade at the main walkway featuring a fashion show of Indonesian’s traditional attires at 5.30pm.

Bring out your family and friends for a unique experience in all, whether you are crave for a taste of home, or simply brushing up on your appreciation of Indonesia’s culture.
