If you’re in the mood for some physical exercise after many hard weeks of university or just want to bust some moves and learn some new skills, check out the Sydney Dance Company in The Rocks.
I attempted the beginners lyrical class and spent quality time rolling around dramatically on the floor to the wistful tunes of Sam Smith- no doubt an incredibly entertaining experience. Grab some friends and go try it out for yourself, there are a number of people in the classes who are also completely new so it is not intimidating at all and you get a great workout as well. For the more experienced dancers out there, there are also intermediate and advanced classes to cater for you.
There are a wide variety of dance styles for you to try out, some other ones that I have done are JFH (jazz, funk, hiphop) and Zumba which are all bound to get your heart pumping. Plus, you get to take a scenic walk around the Rocks and Circular Quay on the way there and back.
The Sydney Dance Company offers ten tickets (one ticket per 1.5 or 2 hour class depending on the dance type) for only $150 for concession/students. That’s only $15 for a serious workout at a well known dance school, guaranteed to leave you feeling accomplished (and sore!).
Check it out and let me know how you go!
