The best Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney – Bau Truong

Written by The Bug

If you are obsessed with Vietnamese food, you should definitely pay a visit to Bau Truong Cabramatta. This Vietnamese restaurant introduces a huge variety of the street food snacks from Ho Chi Minh City. You can easily find some popular traditional dishes on their menu, such as Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake) or Pho (beef noodle soup) right beside their lesser-known dishes of Banh Tam (Udon-like noodles served with salad, coconut and fish sauce) and Banh Tap (prawn cracker layered with rice noodles and topped with lemongrass infused sliced pork).

At the beginning of this term, I was invited by my Vietnamese friend to experience this amazing restaurant on a lovely Sunday night. I started off my meal with Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake) as my first course. However, the quantity of the food did surprise me a lot since I received a massive double-layered meat-filled pancake and great amounts of vegies on my 10-inched plate. This only cost me $14 in total. Such a bargain! I also thought the flavour of the food really brought out the freshness of the ingredients.

The second course that we had was Com Suon (Broken Rice with Grilled Pork Chop and Meatloaf). After trying out this delicious restaurant tucked away in the Vietnamese hub of Sydney, I definitely recommend you to give this restaurant a try, as it is affordable. If you are thinking about giving this restaurant a visit during the mid-break, I suggest taking the train or bus on Sunday. It will save you some money on transport because of it will be $2.50 on your Opal card 😉
