I love it when a café serves simple dishes with ingredients so fresh that they speak for themselves. Wild Pear Café is one of those cafés. Overlooking a nursery, the relaxing atmosphere and scrumptious food at this café will make it a favourite on your list.
The first time I visited, I ordered a bacon and avocado stack while my friend ordered a haloumi stack. They came beautifully presented on a large slice of toasted sourdough, and were both delicious and filling. The bacon and avocado stack had crispy bacon, fresh avocado, juicy cherry tomatoes, thin shavings of parmesan and a delicious chilli jam on top. The haloumi stack featured grilled haloumi, fresh greens, homemade pesto and a wedge of lemon. Both dishes were bursting with flavour and the incredibly fresh ingredients just tied it all together.
I revisited the café again, and noticed they added a few things to the menu. This time we ordered a salmon niçoise salad and smoked salmon stack. The salmon in the niçoise salad was seared perfectly, and the capers and lemon added just the right amount of acidity to cut through the dish. The smoked salmon stack was similar to the other stacks, with smoked salmon, avocado, fresh veggies and capers on a slice of sourdough. Both dishes were again incredibly delicious, and I have no hesitation to return again.
The only downside is that the entrance of the café is easy to miss. For first time visitors, keep your eyes peeled for a red sign on the side of the road. It also gets quite busy during lunchtime. That aside, Wild Pear is a must try if you’re in the area.
